One member of the body cannot say to another, “I have no need of you.”...(1 Cor. 12:20-25) The earth is a member of our body, a part of our very flesh, inseparable from our story, our history, and our destiny. In the same way as the God of Israel once heard the cry of the poor and the oppressed (Ex. 3 and Jon. 4), God also now hears the cry of the earth—of the dumb creatures and of silent nature.
